New record of participants at the Bern World Cup tournament of epee fencers! With 302 participants from 48 nations, this year’s event presents an extremely attractive field of participants. For the team competition, 36 teams, also a new record, are registered so far.
Qualitatively excellent field of participants presents itself in the Mobiliar Arena in Gümligen: 302 participants from 48 nations will compete in the first World Cup competition of the new season on November 11 to 13. The performance density in this competition is remarkable: the first 30 athletes of the current world ranking list will be at the start in Bern. The Swiss top fencers around Max Heinzer and Alexis Bayard will thus be challenged.
The situation is similar in Sunday’s team competition: The first 25 teams of the current world ranking will fight for the victory. The team competitions are of special importance due to the upcoming Olympic qualification. All top teams will try to put themselves in the best possible position by the start of the one-year qualification phase (01.05.2023 to 30.04.2024).
